Ideas for the revised Air Information System Sheila Cryan (EEA)

Why revise the current system ? Commission proposal of the “Directive on ambient air quality and cleaner air for Europe” presented in the Council on 22nd September Envisaged a revision of the NEC directive Shared environmental information system promoted by EEA

Classical definition of a system Data Infrastructure People Each of these three elements must be considered in the new information system for air

Each element has many levels of detail

Data AP Emissions AQ Monitoring AP impact on soil and water National and European information on pressure, state and, impact and responses AP Emissions AQ Monitoring AP impact on soil and water AQ Assessments Plans, Programmes and Measures ...

Infrastructure Tools, guidelines and provisions for: Data collection and processing Quality assurance and quality control Modelling Analysis Dissemination ....

People Member States, EU, EEA and ETC, Scientific bodies, Public Roles Responsibilities Requirements / user needs

Related to other systems EMEP EPER OSPAR/HELCOM Metereological services, WMO, EUMETNET WHO EUROSTAT .... INSPIRE and SIS process will aid future interchange
