The sign MAJOR can mean: main, line of work, profession (initialized to mean professional), or domain (area of study). I’m going to show you some majors. Don’t worry about learning them all. Just learn yours. If you need to see it again, raise your hand and ask.

Father vs. Grandpa Grandpa can be done by moving the hand in either a single or double arc.

1. PICTURE YOUR FAMILY HAVE YOU? Do you have a picture of your family?

“United States” is shown by doing US using a very small circular movement for each letter.

These concepts are all related: “your turn” “second hand” “used” “step” (as in step-father/mother) “MOM MARRY AGAIN”

What does the sign "stepfather" mean?

stepfather noun: the husband of your mother by a subsequent marriage (marry again) [The concept of “step-” is often signed as “second hand” or it can be spelled.]

LAW: The sign “law” is often shortened to one movement when used for “BROTHER (in) LAW” = BROTHER-LAW.

SERVE The sign SERVE can be used with “AGENT” to mean waiter or waitress. SHOULD / MUST / NEED / OUGHT-to all use the same basic sign

NEWSPAPER generally uses a double movement NEWSPAPER generally uses a double movement. The sign when done with a single movement can be used to mean “PRINT” as in “Print your name.”

7. WHICH COMPUTER PROGRAM YOU USE 7. WHICH COMPUTER PROGRAM YOU USE? Which computer program (or programs) do you use?

COMPUTER has several signs. A. B. C COMPUTER has several signs. A. B. C. Here in Sacramento I recommend you use the one on the forehead.

Secretary has several versions Secretary has several versions. I recommend the “pencil to mouth write on paper”-AGENT version. The sign HUNGRY can be used to mean “WISH” The sign SELF can be used to mean: “YOUR OWN.”

8. YOU WISH YOURSELF HAVE SECRETARY Do you wish you had your own secretary?

SCIENCE, CHEMISTRY, and BIOLOGY all use variations of the same sign SCIENCE, CHEMISTRY, and BIOLOGY all use variations of the same sign. Science can use either an S or an “A” with thumbs out. Chemistry uses a “C.” Biology uses a “B”

9. HOW SIGN S-C-I-E-N-T-I-S-T? What is the sign for "scientist?"

The sign HELP can be changed to show who did the helping.
