Marie…. an Orphan Train child

Marie…. Was born Josephine Rizzolo. She was named Marie by her new family in Minnesota.

Marie…. as a child. She always said how lucky she was to have been chosen by her family.

Marie…. valued her educational opportunities. She completed High School and went to College for 1 year, but had to stop because of the “Great Depression”. She also studied music, learning to play the piano and organ from the Sisters of St. Benedict. She later used this knowledge and love of music to teach many children how to play both piano and organ.

Marie…. loved animals and always had dogs and cats as pets. Marie passed away at the age of 86. She had no living relatives, but she had many friends. In addition to teaching music lessons, Marie had various secretarial, bookkeeper, and housekeeper jobs throughout her lifetime. She also volunteered at the Children’s Home on a regular basis – working with the orphaned children there.
