Hispanic Community Members 2002 PRC Quality of Life Assessment: Hispanic Community Members Broward County, Florida Prepared for The Coordinating Council of Broward & Hispanic Unity of Florida by Professional Research Consultants, Inc.

Components of the Quality of Life Survey To measure quality of life among Hispanic respondents in Broward County, the 2002 PRC Quality of Life Assessment looks at: ) Health ) Safety ) Families and Communities ) Learning ) Economy ) Environment ) Government

Healthy People 2010 outlines a comprehensive, nationwide health promotion and disease prevention agenda. It is designed to serve as a roadmap for improving the health of all people in the United States during the first decade of the 21st century.

Selected Key Findings Compared to Broward County residents as a whole, Hispanic residents show: A lower prevalence of diabetes Lower cigarette smoking prevalence Lower prevalence of high blood pressure and high cholesterol Better usage of Pap smears Lower reported prevalence of firearms in the home However: Hispanic respondents are much more often without health insurance Hispanic respondents give lower ratings of local health care
