Introduction to the Global Learning Programme

What is the Global Learning Programme? The Global Learning Programme (GLP) is creating a national network of like-minded schools (now over 5500), committed to equipping their students to make a positive contribution to a globalised world. The GLP provides free training and resources to teachers in primary, secondary and special schools to deliver effective teaching and learning about global issues at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.

Who is delivering the GLP? A consortium of seven partners:

Why take part in global learning? Global learning increases children’s engagement in their learning as it connects them to real-world issues such as human rights and sustainable development. It helps pupils to make sense of the world that they live in and develops their critical thinking skills. Global learning helps schools to develop a strong ethos based on values of fairness and respect. The GLP will help you to develop SMSC dimensions of learning and to prepare pupils for life in modern Britain.

Register your school: www.glp-e.org.uk You will get: free CPD sessions on global learning delivered by your Expert Centre up to £500-worth of e-credits for CPD on global learning from accredited providers when you complete the Whole School Audit competition for partner schools with £1000 of prize money to be won access to a full range of global learning teaching resources online access to the Pupil Assessment Tool to evidence pupil progress

What do other GLP schools say about the value of global learning? Remember to download the video before the session. Watch the video on https://globaldimension.org.uk/glp/page/11038

Ofsted has already noticed the GLP ‘The school uses global education themes very effectively to set pupils’ learning in a worldwide context and broaden their views of the world. This makes the learning more relevant and interesting for pupils, and so it contributes to their enthusiasm for learning...’ Buntingsdale Primary School, Ofsted report January 2015 ‘Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is exceptional. They have a highly developed understanding of global issues and how they can make a positive impact on their local environment and beyond.’ Hawksead Esthwaite Primary School, Ofsted report July 2014

Come and join us! Introductory session Date: 14th March 2017 Time: 16:00 – 18:00 Place: Whitehill Junior School, Hitchin RSVP: Andrew.christie@whitehill.herts.sch.uk Register your school at www.glp-e.org.uk
