Creative Questions As teachers we tend to ask questions in the “remember" category 80 to 90% of the time. These questions are not bad, but using them all the time is not good.

Creative Questions We can ask higher order level of questions. These questions require much more creativity Below are the six question categories as defined by Bloom.

What is creative question? Creative questions are nothing but setting questions following Bloom’s taxonomy: Remember Understand Apply Analyze Evaluate Create

A set of creative questions: example List four major learning theories. Explain the salient features of each of the four learning theories. What is the use of knowing learning theories? What are the differences between behaviourism and constructivism? Which learning theory best applies for psychomotor learning? Propose a research topic with specific objectives on the use of learning theories.

Creative Questions in Schools These are 4-stage questions: Remember Understand Apply Analyse, Evaluate, Create

Creative Questions in Schools The marking system is: Sub-question Number a. Remember 1 b. Understand 2 c. Apply 3 d. Analyze-evaluate-create 4 Total 10

Creative Questions in Schools Example: What are the different types of nonverbal communication (NVC)? Explain the assertion: You cannot but communicate. What NVC techniques we can use for teaching blind students? Arrange the six NVC techniques in order of the magnitude of use and/or importance.

Creative Answers Teacher: An abstract noun is something you can think of, but you cannot touch it. Can you give an example of one? Student: Sure; my father’s new car. Teacher: What is the shortest month? Student: May; it only has three letters.

Creative Answers Teacher: If there are any idiots in the room, will they please stand up? After a long silence, one student rose his feet. Teacher: Why do you consider yourself an idiot? Well, actually I don’t; but I hate to see you standing up there all by yourself.

Questions Comments

Creative questions: Workshop Please evaluate at least two sets of questions indicating the level of learning outcome tested by each question. For this exercise, please use the checklist supplied to you. You have 20 minutes to do it. We will compile the results and reflect on it.
