INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE AT BİLGİ 2019 – 2020 ERASMUS+ STUDY MOBILITY SEMINAR

FIRST STEP: WHAT IS ERASMUS+ ? WHAT IS THE Erasmus+ Program? The Erasmus+ Program is a European Union program to encourage European higher education Institutions to cooperate with each other. What is the Erasmus+ Student Mobility? In one academic year, students may go a partner university in an European country for one or two semesters without paying tuition fees at the higher education institution, that owns the Erasmus + University Charter. The European commission provide financial support by granting grants to the individuals who benefit from the exchange.

SECOND STEP: WHAT ERASMUS+ IS NOT ABOUT? Erasmus+ program is not a language learning program. Erasmus+ program is not a scholarship program. Erasmus+ is not a travel program.

BİLGİ Talent Global Affairs – What Does the Erasmus Office do? Erasmus+ Exchange Programs coordinates (education, internship, staff exchange) Organizes orientation programs for incoming and outgoing exchange students and helps them solve administrative problems during their stay. The University pursues its relations with the National Agency and other partner universities and fulfills its responsibilities.

ERASMUS + EXCHANGE RULES - 1 During the period of the Erasmus Exchange Program, being a full-time registered student and not being a graduate student is required. For undergraduate students minimum GPA 2.20/4.00; for graduate students minimum GPA 2.50/4.00 is required. The first semester of the first year of the degree program must be completed before going to the Erasmus + exchange program.

ERASMUS + EXCHANGE RULES- 2 A student in study cycle at higher education (undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD) can attend to one or more than one Eramus+ program in total of 12 months. At the same education level (undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD) the student who has benefited from the Erasmus+ program, 10 points is reduced from the total Erasmus score in the new application. associate/undergraduate: 12 Months postgraduate: 12 Months 36 Months PhD : 12 Months

ERASMUS + EXCHANGE RULES - 3 Within the scope of Erasmus+ mobility, there is no registration fee and fee to the partner university. The student who has an obligation to pay, (except for the student with scholarship) should only pay to Bilgi. The student who will be spending time abroad can not freeze their registration. Living expenses, travel, health insurance, visa fees etc. belongs to the student. Erasmus+ Learning Mobility should at least be 3 months.

ERASMUS + MOBILITY GRANT First, the European Commission which is a EU institution allocates the grant to Turkeys authorized institution the ‘’Turkey National Agency’’. Turkey's National Agency is the competent authority which allocates the grants to universities.  When BİLGİ receives the Erasmus+ budget, the students are allocated their grants. Erasmus + student selection can not guarantee students to receive grants during the selection process since the budget is allocated to universities from the National agency before.

ERASMUS + STUDY MOBILITY APPLICATION Bilgi University and the establishment should have an inter-instiutional agreement in order for a possible learning mobility. The courses which will be taken in the exchange program should be established at BİLGİ in advance and is registered with a learning agreement. At the end of the exchange, the accomplished courses will be transferred to BİLGİ. Important: The students who will attend the action must have 30 ECTS for one semester and 60 ECTS for two semesters of course credit. They are expected to follow a program that has equal credits to the establishment they will take place in.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS Application Documents: A signed copy of the online application form. Student Profile; Is provided by the SIS page and is the document which shows your last GPA. Course Status; Is provided by the SIS page and is the document which shows the credits and courses that should be completed/taken in order to graudate. (the credits not taken/courses have to be listed). Certificate of Foreign Language Proficiency; If the partner universities education language is another European language other than English, it is the document that proves, you can receive education in that language (the exams, courses, diploma you have attended/received in BİLGİ or somewhere else)
