Urban Development Urbanisation is a vital challenge for the GAA Ulster GAA focus over the next five years Derry City Urban GAA Project Belfast City Urban GAA Project (Upper Springfield Project Pilot)

National Urban Development Committee Twenty two targeted initiatives in each one of the key urban areas Provincial and County Urban committees Existing resources dedicated to this challenge

Urban Development 2008 Urban GAA Strategy Place with Project board All 9 Clubs no involved in the project (project board) Four GAA pitches Four more GAA pitches being developed with a new “shared” 3G pitch All clubs will have a home ground by mid 2010 Full-Time GAA Urban Community Development Officer in Derry City Council (This post has secured £1.8 million of public investment to GAA in the city) Five coaches (1 GPO and 4 Schools Coaches) GAA high priority for the city council- Land leased to clubs for pitch development by Council with a total value of over £2million Over 1000 participants at annual summers camps Three female teams City wide development squad feeding into County squads 2002 Six Urban Clubs (three rural clubs in the district) One coach for the city (placement student) No GAA pitches No council provision or support No summer camps or youth programmes Low GAA provision One female team
