Presentation transcript:

Improving our Performance How can we ensure we do well in and out of school?

Objectives To identify our strengths and areas for development. To understand and evaluate how we can improve our performance. To make a plan to help us succeed in Yr9 & 10.

Outcomes Level 4 Identify some of our strengths and weakness. Level 5 Describe in detail how we can use our strengths to improve our weakness and plan for success. Level 6 Explain what the benefits of working harder and better can be. Level 7 Discuss sensibly the need for improvement in our ways of work and attitude.

Let’s think…….. How many of the Ways to Improve can you name. The ‘ways to improve’ presented in the assemblies before the holiday. Write them down in your own words. E.g. Always write with black ink.

W.A.D.D.I.P.A Write in black ink only Always write the date and the title at the top of the page, and underline them with a ruler. Draw all diagrams with a pencil. Do not graffiti anywhere on your work. If you make a mitstake on your work, draw a single line through it with a ruler. Pages should never be ripped out of your book. All of your work should be as neat as you can possibly make it all of the time.

Pair/Group Task Card Sort Diamond 16 How will you rank them? Important Card Sort Diamond 16 How will you rank them? Less important

Level 6 Explain what the benefits of working harder and better can be. Level 7 Discuss sensibly the need for improvement in our ways of work and attitude.

What can we improve on? Discuss with your partner your strengths and what you could do better to improve performance.? Come up with one of each for both of you. Be ready to explain what you need to do, to improve that part of your learning.

Complete the Evaluation Mark yourself out of 10 for each aspect. Be honest and fair, in order to evaluate and improve. E.g 7 out of 10. ‘I do not always focus in lesson 100% to improve I need to focus, concentrate and work to the best of my abilities’.

What do your marks tell you? Between 25 and 50. You need to start improving your focus on presentation and concentration in lessons to allow you to improve your all round performance. Between 50 and 100 You should focus on you strengths first and then use them to improve the areas for development. Between 100 and 150 You are working well and should focus on improving two or three areas for development to reach the highest levels that you can .

Let’s assess our performance… Pick one piece of work you have done.. Mark it against the WADDIPA criteria……. Explain how you could improve that work next time around.

Plan for Success Using your own evaluation and marking. Draw up a plan to improve your work. Identify two areas of develop, one from your discussions one from your own marking. Write why it needs to improve and how your are going to improve it.
