urrency Does page include a publication date? Does website indicate when it was last updated? Are there dated or dead links? (indicates that information is not current) How important is currency to what you’re researching?

uthority Who is providing the information? (if you can’t tell, that’s a red flag itself) What makes the person or organization an expert? Print resources and databases or other online resources that have gone through an editing and publishing process are more reliable. Correct spelling/grammar add to authority

urpose What is the producer’s intent? (to sell? to entertain? to persuade? to inform?) Is information biased? Are multiple points of view presented? Are advertisements included on the page? Domain can make a difference. .gov and .edu tend to be more objective
