The Place Where was Hip Hop created? What happened in that place? How did that environment shape the music?

1953 - New York City In 1953 construction began on the Cross-Bronx Expressway, this highway project was put in place to connect the suburbs of Long Island and Queens to the suburbs of New Jersey via the Bronx.

What was in the way? 113 Streets 5 Elevated Rapid Transit Lines 1 Subway Hundreds of sewer and utility mains Three Railroads Seven other expressways and parkways. 1 Subway 60,000 Bronx Residents

What was the result? 600,000 manufacturing jobs are lost. 30,000 fires are set between 1973 and 1977 Youth unemployment reaches 60% African American, Afro-Caribbean and Latino families move into the formerly Jewish, Irish and Italian neighborhoods. White youth gangs then preyed on the new arrivals in the streets and in the schoolyard. Minority gangs form first for self-defense.
