Section Chromosome Number An organism with 2 parents must inherit a single copy of every gene from each parent. When gametes are made, the 2 sets.

Intro Video. Meiosis Bottom line during meiosis a diploid cell undergoes two divisions to form four haploid cells.

Meiosis Division of sex cells. Meiosis Cell Division to make 4 new, genetically different sex cells.
Meiosis is a process that reduces the amount of chromosomes in a cell to half the original amount Where did you get your chromosomes from? Why would you.
Introduction to Meiosis. Diploid Diploid is what a cell is called when it has both copies (2N) of each chromosome (N). The diploid number is abbreviated.
1. Name the phase. Diploid number is 4.. Metaphase II.
CELL TYPES & CHROMOSOMES. Gametes are sex cells (egg & sperm) Somatic cells are body cells.
CELL CYCLE FOLDABLE INSTRUCTIONS. You will need 6 sheets of construction paper to construction your Cell Cycle foldable TABS: Cell Cycle Interphase G1.
Meiosis and Nondisjunction. Meiosis Definition: Cell division that divides the number of chromosomes per cell in half to produce sperm and eggs.
+= 46 CHROMOSOMES += 1.What is this process called? 2.Is this scenario reasonable? Why or why not? 92 CHROMOSOMES.

Topic: Cellular Reproduction Aim: How does meiosis occur?
Meiosis The process of cell division in which male and female gametes are produced in order for sexual reproduction to take place.

Lesson: Meiosis Key Questions: How is meiosis different from mitosis?
The process of creating gametes
Meiosis Cells that undergo meiosis, also go through the G1, S, & G2 phases of Interphase then enter the Cell Reproduction step.

Meiosis Foldable Instructions

Obtain 6 halves of paper cut long ways

Stack the papers so that the bottom edges are offset. Use your pinkie finger to measure the distance between edges

Fold the papers in half to make 12 flaps . Staple the top so all papers will stay together

Label the Flaps Meiosis Meiosis Meiosis Introduction Interphase Prophase 1 Metaphase 1 Anaphase 1 Telophase 1 + cytokinesis Prophase II Metaphase II Anaphase II Telophase II + cytokinesis Vocabulary Meiosis

Meiosis introduction The Meiosis introduction should include: What is Meiosis? Human Haploid number – Human Diploid number –

Phases of Meiosis All of the phases of meiosis should include: Description of the phase Picture of the phase

Meiosis foldable Vocabulary Define the following words : Gene – Homologous chromosome – Gamete – Haploid – Fertilization – Diploid – Meiosis – Crossing over -
