Welcome to Chemistry with Mr. Flores Mr. Flores. Goal of Course Students will learn how to apply scientific reasoning to everyday principals of Chemistry.
Scientific Method Science is ultimately based on observation (perceiving objects or events using one of the five senses) Observations often lead to questions.
What is Science?. Competency Goal 1: The learner will design and conduct investigations to demonstrate an understanding of scientific inquiry.. –1.03.

THE BATTING INVESTIGATION. QUESTION  Which type of bat makes the ball go the farthest distance, Composite, Easton, or Big Barrel?
Scientific Method How do scientists answer a question or solve a problem that they have encountered? Scientists use organized ways to plan and conduct.
By: Hanna Briestensky Problem Determine how the height from which the ball is dropped, effects how high that the ball will bounce back up.
Scientific Method 7 th Grade Science. What is the scientific method? It is a process that is used to find answers to questions about the world around.
Get out your science notebooks. Lab 22.1 Write - up Today you are going to do a lab write-up. You will be graded as you would for a WASL lab write-up.
By: Will Schubert. Determine how the height you drop a ball from affects the height the ball bounces back up. Problem.

9-26-17 How Fast or Far Can You Roll a Ball Day 3

Do Now: complete the following in your Science Notebook. In your tennis ball experiment, how should you have demonstrated repetition? By completing at least 3 trials. In your tennis ball experiment, how will you demonstrate replication? By having another group repeat your experiment following your materials list and procedure.

Science Club What it is: a club in which you will build and demonstrate your skills in scientific inquiry in a variety of fields of science, including biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, and technology. Requirements: At least 80% average in science; must be maintained (1 month to bring it back up if grade falls) Excellent behavior $100 fee due by 10/31 (this includes cost for Science Olympiad, equipment, T- shirt)

HW Review: Repetition & Replication Life Experiences 5 possible points Possible Examples of Replication 2.5 points for examples of repetition Recreating a look Copying dance moves 2.5 points for examples of replication Copying answers Possible Examples of Repetition Taking a shower everyday Brushing my teeth everyday Sitting in the same seat everyday

How Fast or Far Can You Roll a Ball – Day 3 All groups will put their materials they used for their experiment on the side counter Groups will then exchange their materials list, procedures and data table with another group. For example, groups who tested rolling the tennis ball farthest will exchange with a group who rolled the tennis ball the fastest. Now, go to the materials table and use your list to gather the materials you need for your experiment. Follow your new procedure exactly and conduct the experiment. Record data in the data table given to you by the original group. Record any problems you encounter while conducting the experiment, such as problems with materials, procedures, etc. using red ink

HW Review: Repetition and Replication Worksheet (given on Friday) Trade & Grade using only red ink Mark only the incorrect answer and provide the correct answer. D. Investigation 4 C. Replication A. Scenario 1
