Orientation Night for Ski & Snowboard Season 2019

Introductions Welcome Students & Parents! chaperones Issaquah Ski and Snowboard School volunteers: chaperones support car drivers board members

Basic Schedule Every Saturday – Jan. 12th – March 2nd ) Lessons on all Saturdays Last week is Hot Dog Day

What students need to bring… Equipment Reminder: Check all boots, bindings, and skis/board to make sure the fit and are working!

What students need to bring… (2) Gear warm base layers, a waterproof jacket and pants, 1-2 pairs of gloves, warm socks goggles a hat or helmet. Ski or board bag (or straps for skis & poles)

What students need to bring… (3) Lift Ticket Season Pass (L-T-D Pass), unless you will go to Alpental as a family) Daily Pass: Youth (7-12): $55.00 Adult: $89.00 “All students must show their season's pass to the chaperone when checking in on the bus each morning, or show a check for a day pass. If there's an issue, it will allow us to start to deal with the situation sooner and make sure your child has a great day on the mountain".  (4) Lunch

Skis and Poles or Snowboards only. All other gear goes on the bus. Loading the Buses 4 Locations: Juanita High School Load – 7:30/ Depart – 7:45 Redmond High School Load – 7:45/ Depart – 8:00 Discovery Elementary: Issaquah Valley Elementary: Load – 7:45/Depart – 8:00 Equipment placed under the bus Skis and Poles or Snowboards only. All other gear goes on the bus. Check in with bus chaperone

Bus Routes and Chaperones Juanita High School Margaret, Shannon and Kristen Redmond High School: Lynn, Liz, and Anna Discovery Elementary in Issaquah: (Bus 301) Eric, Adrian and Natalia (Bus 302) Kevin, Christine, and Ken Issaquah Valley Elementary Lourdes, Bonnie, and Sam Note: You will be contacted by one of your chaperones prior to the season between mid December & early January.

Arrival at the Pass We will arrive and unload the buses just east of the Summit Central Lodge

Where are we located?

Unloading the Buses Unload equipment and other gear Bibs for 7-9 year olds Note: Buses will be locked until lunch between 11:45-12:30 Follow the hill to reach lessons and lodge (to the left of the ski patrol lodge)

A Typical Day on the Mountain

The Lodge Location: What is in the lodge? Just east of the Central Express Lift and the Ski Patrol Lodge. What is in the lodge? Daily Lift Pass sales Bathrooms Small snack bar Chaperones (one is always on duty!)

Injuries Ski Patrol will call the Ski School if a student is taken in off the slopes. Ski School board member will call parent. If necessary, support car will arrange to meet parent.

Timeline for the Day 9:30-11:30 - Morning Lessons 11:45- 12:30 – Lunch 1:00- 3:00 – Afternoon Lesson 3:45 – Buses load for departure 4:00 – Bus departure 4:45 – Return to School Loading areas. * Please note that Juanita HS Will arrive between 4:45-5 since they are further out

A Couple of reminders about the day: If you want to go home early a parent permission slip must be filled out & signed. A student must then be signed out by the designated adult at the bus (during lunch or @ 3:45) or in the lodge. Please be on time to pick up students (a chaperone will wait until all student have been picked up) Lessons/transportation are non-transferrable
