Frozen Soap Bubbles A Breath of Beauty
Every bubble is made up of three individual layers: a thin layer of water molecules squished between two layers of soap. It might look like the entire surface of the bubble is freezing, but what you’re actually seeing is the innermost layer of water—which freezes at warmer temperatures than soapy water—turning to ice within the film.

SOAP BUBBLE RECIPE: 200 ml water 35 ml liquid soap (Dawn) 35 ml white corn syrup 2 Tbsp sugar (1 Tbsp glycerine) Mix and store in the freezer for 30 minutes and give it a stir. Lowering the mixture’s temperature will help your bubbles freeze faster when they land. (store in refrigerator)
BUBBLE DISPENSER: Straw Bubble wand various types* Ambient air bubble inflation device
COLD! SURFACE: Find a cold, textured surface to stick your bubbles. Blowing bubbles with a straw rather than a store-bought dipstick will create less sticky, frozen mess. SOAP: squeezable bottle. The breath you exhale will be much warmer than the ambient air inside the bottle. So this method can help keep your bubble mix cold as it floats to its final resting place. KEEP SOAP COLD! -8 works too! Just takes a bit longer
NO WIND! Be patient! Many bubbles will pop before you’ll have one that freezes for you. The slightest breeze can pop them. Place the bubble where you want it! Small bubbles; don’t pop as fast, easier to place them where you want and better bokeh Watch the magic happen!
