Inventory of victimization surveys Questionnaire sent to 61 countries 18 countries did not reply (29%) 11 countries have no victim surveys (18%) 32 countries return the questionnaire (53%) Information collected for 78 surveys Still waiting for follow-up from Croatia and Latvia Austria, Cyprus, Greece, and Slovakia replied that no surveys have been carried out UNECE Statistical Division

ECE-UNODC Task Force on Victimization Surveys Objectives to survey the countries that have undertaken victimization surveys or are planning such surveys and to collect the methods used; to analyse the communalities and differences of methods used in countries and the ICVS and to identify areas where it would be useful to recommend standards and common definitions; to share experiences in the testing of methodologies and, if necessary, to launch the testing of new methods; to develop methodological guidelines UNECE Statistical Division

Recent ECE-UNODC Meeting on Victimization Surveys Conclusions There is an extensive experience in developing National Victim surveys ICVS does not intend to replace national victim surveys which have larger scope and sample sizes It is not always possible to determine the best methods of collecting victimization data There is the need to provide disaggregated data on victimization which require large sample sizes UNECE Statistical Division
