Graduation Requirements Students must successfully complete these 24 Credits English – 4 credits Mathematics – 4 credits 1 credit must be Algebra 1 1 credit must be Geometry Science – 3 credits 1 credit must be Biology Social Studies – 3 credits 1 credit must be World History 1 credit must be American History ½ credit must be American Government ½ credit must be Economics HOPE – 1 credit Fine Arts – 1 credit Electives – 8 credits Online- 1 course must be completed online

Graduation Requirements GPA & Assessments Grade Point Average (GPA) Cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 2.0 on an unweighted 4.0 scale Graduation Requirements GPA & Assessments Required Assessments a student must pass: Grade 10 FSA/ELA Reading Scaled Score of 350 Or ACT 19 Reading or SAT 430 Reading Algebra 1 EOC Scaled Score of 489 (Prior to Spring 2016) Or comparative score of 97 on the PERT Test Required Assessments a student must take: Algebra 1, Biology 1, Geometry, US History* *Students taking AP US History or DE US History are not required to complete the EOC for a standard high school diploma. **Scholar Designation on their Diploma

Earning College Credit in High School Advanced Placement Dual Enrollment Courses at Bartram Trail HS 1.0 value added per credit Take AP Test in May; Scores range 1-5 Generally get AP credit for score of 3 or above Over 25 AP Courses offered at BTHS Most subjects covered, including electives Most courses at SJRSC 1.0 value added per credit ACT/SAT/CPT/PERT score required 3.0 unweighted GPA required SJR State Application each semester Courses go on college transcript permanently NCAA Clearinghouse- do before 1st time of taking ACT and SAT!

Earning College Credit in High School Dual Enrollment - Requirements ACT/SAT/PERT/CPT scores required Most dual enrollment courses require a minimum score For English (ENC 1101): 440 SAT Critical Reading OR 19 ACT Reading and 17 English OR 106 PERT Reading and 103 Writing OR 83 CPT 3.0 unweighted GPA required Complete and accurate SJR State application completed and turned in by the published deadlines – will be in April/May Plan in advance with your school counselor and attend the Dual Enrollment Parent Session. There will be one in April. TBD Date. For College Algebra (MAC1105): 450 SAT Math OR 21 ACT Math OR 123 PERT Math OR 85 CPT NCAA Clearinghouse- do before 1st time of taking ACT and SAT!

Earning College Credit in High School Advanced Placement & Honors- Requirements ACT/SAT/PERT/CPT scores are NOT required AP courses DO require minimum FSA-10 Reading scores and/or Math scores (level 4 or 5 in appropriate area; no less than 3 in any area) Norm Referenced testing can be used instead if applicable (ie: Stanine) or PSAT or PLAN No minimum GPA required AP courses require prior success of a “C” or higher in academic courses at honors or AP level Students earning a grade of “A” in a previous standard course in the subject area may be recommended for Honors or AP Students may NOT drop a course due to difficulty. Students who earn a grade of D or F at the end of the semester cannot drop the course unless parent conferences with teacher each grading period (required) and student seeking consistent academic assistance from teacher (required) has produced less than a “C” for the semester. Semester One Important Tasks FSA ELA Grade 10 Reading Retakes For those who did not pass sophomore year For those who are new to Florida (430 SAT;19 ACT Reading) October and spring EOC retakes in November and December ACT and/or SAT Prepare and Register Juniors take the test(s) this spring Registration for SAT/ACT – online; send scores! Work on Grade Forgiveness (FLVS or APEX) Monitor Home Access Center (HAC) Community Service – Community Service – Community Service NCAA Clearinghouse- do before 1st time of taking ACT and SAT!

Tracking and Recovery Arrange your parent communication with teachers at Interims, don’t wait until the semester is close to ending. Review Schoology sites for times of assistance outside of the classroom Students can attend Math tutoring hosted by Mu Alpha Theta on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 8:30am - Main Library

Grade Forgiveness Students can retake classes in which they earned a “D” or “F” and replace it with the new grade. All grades do appear on the transcript, but forgiven grades are not included in GPA calculation. Juniors should complete grade forgiveness now, before the beginning of their senior year. Board of Governors & Florida University Admissions First Time In College (FTIC) student will be considered as meeting minimum State University System (SUS) eligibility requirements in Florida in one of the following ways: An FTIC student has a high school GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.0 scale as calculated by the university AND presents official SAT and/or ACT scores. OR An FTIC student has a high school GPA of 2.5 to 2.99 on a 4.0 scale as calculated by the university AND MUST ALSO achieve minimum scores for each SAT test or ACT (with writing on each) as outlined below: SAT C/R 460 and Math 460 and Writing 440 ACT C/R 19 and Math 19 and Writing 18 Board of Governors & Florida University Admissions , If a student meets either scenarios above, a Florida university is granted the approval by the Board of Governors to admit the student. HOWEVER, it is not required that the school admit the student.

Florida Financial Aid Bright Futures Scholarship Program

Bright Futures Class of 2018 The Bright Futures application is completed during a student’s senior year Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application beginning October 1st of student’s senior year; prior to graduation A link to the application is available on BTHS website under “College Scholarships” World language is required: must complete two sequential years of the same language

Bright Futures Class of 2018 Bright Futures Scholarships pay out by the credit hour Bright Futures GPA weighting is 0.5 Weight for Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment courses Scholarship can be used in Florida (approved) schools only Scholarship must be initiated within two years post high school graduation Military can utilize scholarship within two years post discharge (if applied and qualified prior to graduation)

Extracurricular Activities Students should be engaged in meaningful activities outside of school Volunteer and service hours must be documented on letterhead and submitted to guidance secretary, Ms. Kasting While service hours are not a graduation requirement, they are necessary for Bright Futures and also help on college applications

Review and Thank You! Check your Credit Detail against graduation requirements. Consider earning college credit through AP courses or Dual Enrollment. Keep up with your important tasks during semesters 1 and 2. Track your grades on HAC and retake classes through FLVS/SJVS. Research and explore colleges. Get involved! Volunteer and submit service hours! Look through your information packet with your parents/guardian.
