Save the Theatre Program! Student Quotes: “The lessons I learned from that class have followed me, giving me confidence, strength, articulation, and poise.” “I credit my background in drama, which helped me build the confidence and skills I needed to be successful.”

These same parents and school board members who cut theater are renting a dozen movies a month and watching TV every night…

Ways to cut budget or raise money: Put on productions that have fewer costs Borrow costumes Use minimal sets Use fewer bells and whistles Can put on shows outside, in the cafeteria, or the gymnasium Appeal to the School Board about moving budget around: Cheerleaders do not need new uniforms every year. Ask the football team to put on bake sales to raise their own funds. Have families participate in fund raisers.

Theatre is a great way to expose students to literature they would otherwise not be interested in. High school theatre enriches the lives of not only the actors but also their family, friends and other members of the community who come to see the plays.

What if these actors did not have a theatre program to spark their interest when they were in school?
