Homework YWBAT analyze how the solar system was formed. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 Objective: YWBAT analyze how the solar system was formed. Drill: Could astronauts land on a star in the same way that they landed on the moon? Why or Why not? Homework Study WOW

Answer No; stars are composed of gas, not solid rock like the moon. Stars are also a lot hotter.

Did you know…? A solar system is a sun (which is a star) and everything within reach of its gravity. Our solar system is a part of the Milky Way galaxy.

Today’s Activities Drill DRW – Formation of the Solar System Conclusion

Closure Question Why did the solar nebula begin to collapse to form the sun and planets if the forces of pressure and gravity were balanced?

Conclusion Answer An external force, perhaps from a collision with another nebula or from a nearby exploding star, pushed inward on the nebula. This force was strong enough to overcome the pressure of the nebula and trigger its collapse.
