Effects of Dietary Inbalance. Anorexia – A person who does not eat, see themselves as fat. Condition leads to excessive weight loss. Bulimia – a person forces themselves to eat a lot then forces themselves to vomit. Has the effect of weight loss Obesity – Regularly over eating causes a long term effect of a rise in body fat levels. This is when you are 20% or more over your ideal body weight.

Basal Metabolic Rate The amount of energy that your body needs to function whilst at rest. Eg breathing and heart beating whilst asleep requires energy.

Carbohydrate Loading Prior to a big race, endurance athletes decrease the amount of exercise that they do and increase the amount of carbohydrates in their diet. They do this to increase the glycogen stores in their body.
