Wood Plastic Metal Year 7 Make a list of items made of wood within your home. Draw one of the items that is made of wood, focus on the grain of the wood and how the wood is joined together. Wood Plastic Metal Year 8 Using books or the internet research the difference between hard and soft woods. Using books or the internet describe how MDF and Plywood are manufactured. Find some products/packaging that have the FSC logo on it. Explain the role of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). How does it link to the different types of wood? Plastics come in 2 main categories, thermosetting plastic and thermoplastic, research the names of different types of plastic that fit into each category Collect examples of products/packaging made from plastics. Research the logos found on plastic packaging that link to recycling, what are they and what do they mean? Metals come in 3 main categories, ferrous, non ferrous, alloys. Research the different types of metal, name examples of different types of metal that go in each category. Collect examples of products/packaging made from metal or with foil lining Research which metal products/ packaging can be recycled, how many of these items do you use? How many do you recycle? Create a table that shows what can be recycled and what you do recycle.
