OPTN/UNOS Transplant Administrators Committee Fall 2012 Regional Meetings

Benchmarking data for programs that complete survey Staffing Survey Benchmarking data for programs that complete survey Every year we offer transplant centers the opportunity to participate in a staffing survey. In return for participating, we provide benchmarking data only to those programs that submit their completed form.

Staffing Survey Response Trend This year’s survey closed on June 30th. We received more responses than last year from most program types. Kidney and pancreas were the exceptions. We’re working on updating next year’s survey now and anticipate sending it out in February.

Payer Work Group One location for program info and data Available to insurance and managed care 2012 UNOS RFI https://portal.unos.org  Expect the 2013 RFI in January Questions/suggestions regarding the RFI: UNetsm Help Desk at UNethelpdesk2@unos.org Angel Carroll at angel.carroll@unos.org Transplant centers can enter essential program information and data in one location using the UNOS RFI.  Completed RFIs are readily available for insurance and managed care companies to review at their convenience. Although some payers may have their own RFIs or supplemental forms, we recommend that all transplant programs complete the UNOS RFI.   Having the basic data in one place has proven an effective and efficient way to meet the payers’ requests for annual transplant program information.  The 2012 RFI is still available on the transplant administrators Web site. Before completing the RFI, each transplant center should review their January center-specific data tables.  These are available at www.srtr.org. We also find that it is beneficial for each transplant administrator to work collaboratively with the person(s) assigned to completing their center’s RFI to insure accuracy. Every year the TAC payer work group meets with payers to discuss any issues with the UNOS RFI and to discuss any other payment issues. This year the payers received updates on KPD and discussed possible updates to the UNOS RFI. We’re using those suggestions to update the 2013 RFI and expect to release it at the end of January. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the RFI, we would love to hear them. Just e-mail the UNet Help Desk at UNethelpdesk2@unos.org or Angel Carroll at angel.carroll@unos.org.

Transplant Administrators Listserv Updated Listserv guidelines Archiving posted documents http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Tran splantAdministrators/ We recently updated the Transplant Administrators Listserv guidelines with more clearly defined criteria for membership. We are also exploring better ways to archive documents people post to the Listserv. All transplant administrators are invited to join the Listserv. The URL is http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/TransplantAdministrators/

UNOS’ Transplant Management Forum will be in New Orleans next year! The last day to submit TMF abstracts and be considered for award and poster presentation is January 18th. This year we will present the 2nd Annual Leader in Transplantation Award. We’ll make sure to include information about entering on the Listserv, in UNOS e-Newsletter and in the UNOS Update. Please start thinking about possible nominations.
