Data Analysis Look at the first page of the instructional planning report for your course. In general, how did your students do? In general, were multiple choice or written response scores higher? What else do you notice?

Data Analysis Look at the breakdown of students’ performance on the Multiple-Choice Section. Identify specific areas of strength. Identify specific areas of weakness. What else do you notice? Some content areas have many more questions than others. It is important to do practice exams, un-timed and timed.

Data Analysis Look at the breakdown of students’ performance on the Free-Response Section. Identify specific areas of strength. Identify specific areas of weakness. What else do you notice?

Moving Forward Given what you have learned from your data and what you know about how AP Exams are scored, what knowledge or skills would have most improved your students’ scores? Limit this to two or three areas. Now would be a good time to find the course page on the College Board website. For example, US History: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-united-states-history/exam

CollegeBoard Resources Course Exam Page Free-Response Questions, Scoring Guidelines, and Sample Responses Course and Exam Description 2018 student responses, scoring guidelines, and commentary Link to Teaching and Assessing Modules Practice Exam Teachers should have reviewed all released items and linked them to specific units of study. Students should have opportunities to “score” released items, noting strengths and weaknesses. Take time to explore the Teaching and Assessing Modules.
