There has to be more Intimacy with God

Intimacy with God: Church plant; Renewal (dream) Soul is like a suitcase… We have to unpack before we can fill. (Moses)

Intimacy with God: Exodus 3:1-12, “Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father- in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from a bush.

Intimacy with God: Exodus 3:1-12, “Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, ‘I will go over and see this strange sight – why the bush does not burn up.’ When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, ‘Moses! Moses!’ And Moses said, ‘Here I am.’

Intimacy with God: Exodus 3:1-12, “‘Do not come any closer,’ God said. ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.’ Then he said, ‘I am the God of your Father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.’ At this Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.

Intimacy with God: Exodus 3:1-12, “The Lord said, ‘I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt . . . So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.’ But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?’ And God said, ‘I will be with you.’” (TNIV)

Intimacy with God: God called Moses to an impossible assignment. Have you ever considered his assignment? Moses asked, “Who am I?” Moses feels inadequate. (background – sin; father wound) God answered, “I will be with you.” (key to the impossible, key to more)

Intimacy with God: Moses deeply internalizes this lesson that he needs God; He needs God for his impossible assignment; He needs God to satisfy the deep longings of his soul. He becomes a passionate pursuer of the face of God. (Exodus 19)

Intimacy with God: Moses keeps passionately pursuing God. (Exodus 32; Exodus 33) Exodus 33:11, “The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.” (Ron – Council; FB friends) Moses was face to face friends with God & his words carried great weight.

Intimacy with God: The key to ongoing intimacy is to be ever grateful, never satisfied, relentlessly pursuing God for more of Himself; never taking offense. We must seek God’s face, not just His hands. (dulling hunger; worship, silence) (Dianna)

Intimacy with God: Moses keeps pursuing God for more. (Numbers 12; context rebellion) Numbers 12:6f, “He said, ‘Listen to my words: When there are prophets of the Lord among you, I reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams.

Intimacy with God: Numbers 12:6f, “But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

Intimacy with God: Ever grateful, never satisfied, Moses has been on a relentless pursuit of a face to face friendship with God. He has progressed from a FB friend, to a face to face friend, to a mouth to mouth lover. No wonder his words carried weight in heaven. “But, I’m not Moses.”

Intimacy with God: Remember where Moses began. Exodus 3:6, “’I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.’ At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.” (the aversion in our souls – checkered pasts – walking in the light, father wounds, fear of intimacy) (distant Father – dreams)
