The use of the TraMm for recording Continued Professional Development Presented by Alison Kay BSc (Hons) OT

What is Continued Professional Development? (CPD) The way in which we continue to learn and develop through-out our career so as to keep our skills and knowledge up to date and allow us to practise safely and effectively. Hcpc registrant wording -not just formal courses, its any activity from which you learn and develop Eg – work-based leanring- reflecting on expereinces/ considering feedback from service users or being a member of a commitee, -prof acitvity, giving presentaitons, training , Formal education – formal courses, carrying out research, Chester Uni course, self directed learning, reading articlaes, books, DM site info updates. Many many more.....HCPC book appendix 1

Do we need to do it? - What HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) say? - GMC requirements... - What DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) say? - could one CPD model fit all? How many HCPC standards for CPD are there? What are they? When are Occupational Therapists next called for audit? I just want you to think about that while we look at how some Centres are currently documenting their CPD.

Continuing Professional Development Record Example 1 Continuing Professional Development Record MEMBER OF STAFF: Date Development Activity Duration of Training Venue & Who conducted the training Employees Signature   Now there will be other paper work such as reflective diaries, Evidence based learning outcomes perhaps, supervision sheets to accompany these but could this all be collectively added to one document for CPD and could this document also be used to format our appraisals?

Seek to ensure that CPD benefits the service user How many HCPC Standards for CPD are there? Standard 1 Standard 2 Standard 3 Standard 4 Maintain a continuous, up to date and accurate record of CPD activities Demonstrate CPD activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to current or future practice Seek to ensure that CPD has contributed to the quality of their practice and service delivery Seek to ensure that CPD benefits the service user Standard 5 – only applies if chosen for audit Upon request, present a written profile of own work, supported by evidence, which explains how standards have been met These aren't rocket science, could these be used for DM?

Uses of a structured CPD model for our role? What other ways can we document our CPD? Uses of a structured CPD model for our role? DM collective standards, meet all Driving Advisers from all backgrounds CPD needs? Health backgrounds and charitable,

TRAMm Model & Continuing Professional Development - CPD is a personal journey, to be effective you need to Tell others, Record and apply your CPD Activities, Monitor your progress and measure the impact. - The TRAMm Model is a dynamic, interactive model to facilitate a strategic approach to CPD suitable for HCPC and non-HCPC registered individuals. It provides a framework to facilitate your CPD journey. It reflects how individuals learn, absorb and apply new experiences. The TRAMm Tracker provides a template to structure, plan and record CPD whilst highlighting any learning needs. The TRAMm Trail provides a method to record in a little more depth the most significant pieces of CPD and can be used alongside your favoured method of reflection. The TRAMm Model, TRAMm Tracker and TRAMm Trail are collectively known as TRAMm CPD (Hearle et al. 2016) TRAMm Tracker and TRAMm Trail provide the infrastructure and transport for effective CPD for both individual and organisation. www.TRAMmCPD.com/Enquiries@TRAMmCPD.com/@TRAMmCPD
