HIV And Aids By: Eric Hutchinson

HIV And Aids Definition HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. Aids is acquired immunodeficiency syndrome It is the HIV virus that can lead to aids

Viruses and what are they an infective agent that typically consists of a nucleic acid molecule in a protein coat, is too small to be seen by light microscopy, and is able to multiply only within the living cells of a host. the virus injects its genetic material into the host cell. the host cell uses the genetic material to make new viruses. the host cell splits open, releasing the viruses.

Where did it come from? Scientists identified a type of chimpanzee in West Africa as the source of HIV infection in humans. They believe that the chimpanzee version of the immunodeficiency virus SIV. This was most likely transmitted to humans and mutated into HIV when humans hunted these chimpanzees for meat and came into contact with their infected blood.

How is it contracted? Contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes and HIV-infected blood or blood-contaminated body fluids. Deep, open- mouth kissing if both partners have sores or bleeding gums and blood from the HIV-positive partner gets into the bloodstream of the HIV- negative partner.  Sharing needles or syringes, rinse water, or other equipment (works) used to prepare drugs for injection with someone who has HIV. HIV can live in a used needle up to 42 days depending on temperature and other factors. This disease can also be transmitted by any type of intercourse

Where was it first recorded, in the US And world and what are the symptoms The first verified case of HIV is from a blood sample taken in 1959 from a man living in what is now Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo.  The first case of aids in the U.S. was in San Francisco Flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, and fatigue can occur. More AIDS symptoms include weight loss, fever or night sweats, fatigue, and recurrent infections.

How long can it take to develop into aids? Persons with HIV can develop signs of infection anywhere from months to years after being infected. About half of the people with HIV develop AIDS within 10 years, but the time between infection with HIV and the onset of AIDS can vary greatly

How many people have died to aids worldwide to this day  more than 70 million people have been infected with the HIV virus and about 35 million people have died of HIV.

How many people are infected worldwide There were approximately 36.9 million people worldwide living with HIV/AIDS in 2017. Of these, 1.8 million were children

How many people have died in the U.S. approximately 658,507 people in the United States with an AIDS diagnosis have died overall.

Celebrities who have died to aids 1. Emile Ardolino 2. Merritt Butrick 3. Howard Greenfield 4.  Richard Hunt 5. Tom McBride 6. Freddie Mercury

Celebrities with HIV Magic Johnson Charlie sheen Danny Pintauro Greg Louganis Jerry Herman Andy Bell

Several tips to avoid infection Get tested and know your partner's HIV status. ... Have less risky Intercourse Use condoms Limit your number of sexual partners Get tested and treated for STDs Talk to your health care provider about pre-exposure prophylaxis

Most of what helps in taking medicine lamivudine (Epivir) zidovudine (Retrovir) Emtricitabine Another thing that will help with aids is Antiretroviral therapy

Conclusion / Summary Overall HIV and AIDS are very dangerous You should take all the steps necessary to avoid this You should be tested for any STD so you know you’re safe If you find out if you have any STD you should contact a doctor Watch out when you are having intercourse and make sure your partner doesn’t have it
