In Comp Book Tuesday I can understand how conflicting claims to the land in East Texas were caused.

Copy Question and Answers in Comp Book: Warm Up- Attendance Copy Question and Answers in Comp Book: Try and name 2 causes of the American Revolution. (Discuss with group if necessary.) What were some of the reasons for the French Revolution? (Use group or device if necessary.) Possible answers include taxation without representation and the Intolerable Acts for the American Revolution. Terrible poverty for the French Revolution.

Marques de Rubi- Small Group In Comp Book Marques de Rubi- Small Group You will read the article on Marques de Rubi. (6 Min) You will then get out the task cards and begin a round table discussion using the task cards. (12 Min) Marquez de Rubi will be on the quiz on Friday. Make sure you get all 4 questions in. Write down a who Marques de Rubi is and what his job is in Texas.

Marques de Rubi- Share with the Room. No we will begin a round table discussion with the room. Each group will have someone stand up and ask a question from their comprehension card. We will go around the room to each group. The second time we go around someone new needs to stand up and ask. Make sure you are being respectful of the other students in class. Don’t be afraid to participate in the conversation. Don’t be afraid to disagree and voice it. Don’t be afraid to be disagreed with. It’s America.

Answer the following in your Comp Book. Who was Marques De Rubi? What was his job? What do you think the King of Spain thought about Marques de Rubi? What did Marques de Rubi suggest to the King of Spain? Predict how this will affect the Texas region.

In Comp Book Wednesday I can discern what the Louisiana Purchase and Adams Onis Treaty were and comprehend how both apply to the Texas Region.

Copy Question and Answers in Comp Book: Warm Up Copy Question and Answers in Comp Book: Why did the Spanish decide to close most of its missions in Texas? (Learned it yesterday.) What can you conclude of the Spanish King’s opinion of Marques de Rubi by his appointment of visitador general? Define Annexation. Too few settlers remained. The King must have respected Rubi.

In Comp Book What Do You Know? In your comp books you will write what you know (facts) from looking at this map of the Louisiana purchase. Write as many things as you can. (4 minutes) Pay special attention to dates and labels. Now you will have 5 minutes to go get 3 different things than you have from 3 different people. When you’re done, back to your seats.

Now write the facts- Louisiana Purchase In Comp Book In 1800, Spain agreed to return control of Louisiana to France. Three years later the United States bought it for $15 million. This doubled the size of the U.S.

More important stuff to write down and know In Comp Book More important stuff to write down and know • Spanish colonization in Texas had been largely unsuccessful. • Spain supported the British colonies in their revolution by opening ports and sending supplies. • After Spain returned Louisiana to the French, the United States purchased the Louisiana Territory, which encouraged more people to migrate across the Mississippi River toward Spanish Texas.

In Comp Book What Do You Know? In your comp books you will write what you know (facts) from looking at this map of the Adams Onis Treaty. Write as many things as you can. (4 minutes) Pay special attention to dates and labels. Notice the location of Texas. Who owns it? Now you will have 5 minutes to go get 3 different things than you have from 3 different people. When you’re done, back to your seats.

Now write the facts- Adams-Onis Treaty In Comp Book Now write the facts- Adams-Onis Treaty Adams-Onis Treaty Between 1806 and 1819, no nation governed the Neutral Ground. Smugglers, outlaws, and fugitives from both Spanish and American territories moved into the Neutral Ground where they were safe from legal authorities. In 1819 the U.S. and Spain signed the Adams-Onis Treaty, ending the boundary dispute. Spain gave up Florida and made the Sabine River the eastern boundary of Texas. U.S. gave up claims to Texas. The neutral ground is now U.S. territory.

If you have time. Answer the following: How did the Louisiana Purchase and Adams-Onis Treaty affect the Texas Region?

In Comp Book Thursday I can understand how class divisions among the Spanish contributed to social unrest and calls for independence.
