Annual Title I Presentation 2018-2019 Beryozova School Annual Title I Presentation 2018-2019

What is Title I? Title I is a federally funded program to assist our school in providing a successful education for all students Title I funds are allocated to schools based on the number of low income students Schools with a population of at least 40% low income are eligible for a school-wide program A school-wide program: Uses Title I funds to raise academic achievement for the entire educational program of the school Provides additional assistance to students who experience difficulties in meeting the state’s performance targets

In order to have a school-wide program we must: Have a student population of at least 40% low income Collect and analyze data that effects student achievement Develop, with input from the community, a comprehensive school plan Meet annually as a planning team to review the effectiveness of the plan and make adjustments when necessary The planning team consists of teachers and interested parents who provide input to determine priorities

Beryozova’s School Title I Budget Funds: Before/After-school academic programs for students Field trips and extra-curricular activities such as: Rock-climbing Museum trips Biking Hiking Family Engagement Activities School-based incentives and P.E. equipment

Previous Year’s Programs Students participated in a variety of fun activities last year, including:

Accessing our Plan and Assessments Beryozova School’s Title I plan is accessible on the Indistar website at www.indistar.org. The login and password are the same and are: GuestS14113 Students take a variety of assessments throughout the school year, including: MAP – Measures of Academic Progress – Taken three times per year in the areas of reading, language, and math by students in grades K - 10 AIMSWeb – Reading assessment tests taken three times per year by students in K-3rd grade PEAKS – Taken once each spring by students in grades 3 – 9 Student progress is reported to parents quarterly via our report cards, however PEAKS Assessment data being reported to families at the beginning of the year following the PEAKS Assessment. PEAKS data will be distributed this week

Title I Parent Notification Requirements: Parent’s Right to Know Letter Advises families of the qualification of teachers – sent home last week Beryozova School staff have developed two documents that help support our Family Engagement Plan The Student/Parent/Teacher Compact is designed as a voluntary agreement among groups of people that firmly unites them. Beryozova’s Student/Parent/Teacher Compact outlines the roles and responsibilities that each group has in order to create the most effective learning environment for students The Parent Involvement Policy shares Beryozova’s vision of parental involvement, and the steps that staff will take in order to create a school-home partnership that will help all students succeed Both of these documents will be updated by staff this fall and be shared with families

Rights and Opportunities You have the right to: Request regular meetings with staff in order to make suggestions Participate in educational decisions for your child Request the qualifications of your child’s teacher Submit a written comment on the school-wide program plan Your opportunities include: Being a part of the Title I team Helping make decisions regarding the Title Plan, Family Engagement Policies and Events, Title I Budgets, and other ways we can improve Participating in any and all school events!
