By Jessica Tancordo Canine Distemper

What is it Viral disease that first enters the lymph system, then the blood, and finally effects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, urogenital, and central nervous systems . Threatens Domestic dogs Raccoons Coyotes Foxes Skunks Weasels

Etiology Closely related to measles and renderpest virus in that they are in the paramyxoviridae family Single stranded negative RNA that can cause a systematic infection to its host

Wildlife effected Young with weak immune systems are most susceptible. Can be transmitted from species to species through infected nose and eye secretions, urine, feces and even food and water than have been exposed. Not considered a threat to humans.
