Learning Map for Year 1 : Spring 1 Pl Please encourage your child to read each day Can I understand how to be safe online? To know what information is personal. To know who to speak to if they are unsure of anything online. Can I program? To understand directions. To use simple programming on iPads and using Beebots. Dance – Thursday To learn movements and how to create sequences Outdoor PE – Friday To develop ball skills and teamwork Can I explore materials? To describe the properties of materials. To sort materials into groups. To investigate which materials float. To create an umbrella by testing which materials are waterproof. Can I explore magnets? To investigate which materials are magnetic. To understand why some materials are magnetic or not. PE Power of Reading To have a book focus and create descriptions, drama, music, story writing, letter writing based on this. Drama To act in role as castle characters. Chn will get to explore our castle role play area. Science Computing English Cracking Castles Theme RE Can I know what medieval castles looked like? To name the parts of a castle. To know the different types and forms of castles. Can I understand how people lived in castles? To name the people who lived in castles and the jobs they had. To understand how the examples of Saints help Christians to live their lives today. Can I understand the story of Noah’s Ark? What does the Bible teach in the story of Noah? What is grace? Patterns and sequences To create patterns. To find the missing numbers in sequences. Data handling and graphs To conduct surveys to find answers to questions. To know ways of recording data, e.g. tally charts To show information in simple graphs. Art & DT PSHE Can I name and talk about the role of different people in the community who help us?
