Franz Ferdinand is Dead The next steps in WWI

Now that Archduke Franz Ferdinand is dead along with his wife Sophia, Austria-Hungary blames Serbia for the death. Instead of declaring war on Serbia right away, Austria Hungary gives Serbia an ultimatum

The Ultimatum An ultimatum= when one government makes a demand on another government before they go to war -there were 3 conditions to the ultimatum The Ultimatum

1. Austria-Hungary asked that Serbia stop hating them 2. Austria-Hungary asked Serbia to punish those involved in the assassination of Franz Ferdinand 3. Austria-Hungary asked that they come into Serbia and get rid of the Black Hand

Serbia was given 48 hours to accept this… Serbia was given 48 hours to accept this…..Serbia did not accept the 3rd condition of the ultimatum On July 26th 1914 Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia Russia & then France put their armies on German border Germany told them to take away their armies, but they did not so Germany attacked them
