March for Meals campaign is an annual month-long event, led by Meals on Wheels America. It is designed to generate public awareness about senior hunger and isolation, and to celebrate the invaluable services provided by Meals on Wheels programs; both home-delivered and congregate – in virtually every community across the country. Given the exemplary public-private partnership Meals on Wheels embodies, this annual campaign is also intended to showcase the successes of the Older Americans Act, help recruit new volunteers from our community and to increase fundraising from local businesses and supporters.
We invited Mayors, council members and local celebrities to participate in the campaign by helping serve meals at any of our dining rooms. Proclamations were announced at the Union Gap, Yakima, Selah, Sunnyside, and Grandview city council meetings proclaiming March 2019 as the 17th Annual March for Meals Month. Press release sent to media to inform them of PFP MOW participation in the campaign.
