Background 2015 Total : 694.679 migrants Nationality : Syria- 60%, Afghanistan and Pakistan- 30% 2016 Total in the period January- 08 March : 89.623 migrants Total prevented after closure of route : 35.177 migrants Smuggling migrants : 108 cases ; more than 1.960 migrants 2017 Total prevented 2.831 persons in attempt to enter in the country Smuggling migrants : 13 cases, detected 160 migrants, 28 perpetrators Asylum requests: 104 persons

Smuggling of migrants In 43 (11) cases, detected 721 (218) migrants, Criminal charges against 36 persons Nationality of the perpetrators: Macedonian 27 , Bulgarian 5, Afghanistan 3 (with German travel documents) Nationalities of smuggled migrants: Pakistan 65%, Afghanistan 12,7%, Bangladesh 5,3% Iraq 5%, Syria 3% etc.

Ongoing activities Status Agreement with EC on the status of the Frontex personnel in RM Adopted new Law on Foreigners (applicable since May 2019) and Law on international and temporary protection (in force since April 2018) Support in further strengthening of the capacities of the Border Security System (Special Measures, regional and bilateral Projects…) 3-6-9 Task Force Success in dealing with the migration crisis in Europe strongly depends on the success of measures conducted on Macedonian - Greek border
