With a foundation in disability support services Outlook can continues to evolve keeping true to our mission and values supporting choice and control for individuals to participate in community, through our partnerships with business, other not for profit service providers and local community. Our progressive environmental integrated workforce, community centre and leading edge disability services, create jobs, a space for socialising, training, work and life skill development.   Outlook has a presence across Mornington Peninsula, Bayside, South-Eastern and Northern Metropolitan Regions of Melbourne.

What is Steps to Employment? A realistic pathway to achieving future employment through further education training, volunteering and work trials. Delivered in group and one to one settings Steps to Employment supports school leavers to: plan career goals gain skills with accredited training or further education work readiness and application supported work experience and volunteer positions access to DES expertise and supports

Collaborated with health services to provide a holistic approach Working in partnership with local Organisations to build on WE options STE began in 2015- designed in collaboration with special school to deliver a program which supported a neiche market. Those who wanted work post school but needed further support until they were ready Began by partnering with RTO to deliver Trans Ed , group WE and additional skill development around work readiness Each year the structure has evolved and adapted to fit the current cohort and learn from what works and what doesn’t work. Trialed delivering our own content for two years Structure modified to work within NDIS funding framework Partnering with quality RTO’s Community organisations – Social connections Local employers – Work Experience First participant exit in 12 months into employment

What works…

Nick ….his journey to employment 2013 finished school - Identified employment as a goal 2014 joined Steps - Discovered work passions and pathways to achieve employment 2015-2016 – embarked on various work trails, built confidence and skills 2017 – secured accredited Barista certification 2018 – HAS A JOB! 2019 – Nick will return one day a week to support and mentor other participants of Steps to Employment Started STE in 2014 Struggled with the complexity of the transition Mental and physical health issues Not sure, what he wanted to do but knew that paid employment was the end goal. Done a variety of WE and it wasn’t until he was doing WE that was with animals that really ignited his passion and boosted his confidence to make changes in all areas of his life. Casey Radio Coles Pet shop x2 Dog kennel Café Nike tried WE in a café to try something different, went and got a Barrister certificate supported by Outlook and has since got paid employment through a successful WE Exiting STE in December 2018 and will return one day a week in 2019 to be a mentor and support for other participants
