facts Prairie dogs are not really dogs. They are 18 in. long [46 cm.]

killers Ferrets hunt and eat prairie dogs. Prairie dogs eat farmers crops and the farmers kill the prairie dogs.

Types Utah There is the white tailed, black tailed, Mexican, Gunnison, and Utah prairie dogs. The black tailed lives in Canada and the united states. The white tailed prairie dog lives farther west. The Mexican prairie dog lives in Mexico. The Utah prairie dog live in Utah and Mexico. Gunnison White tailed Black tailed prairie dog Mexican prairie dogs.

Babies Prairie dogs babies are called pups. The pups are born late in may. The mother Prairie dog look after the pups carefully. Five weeks after the pups are born they can open there eye’s.

Homes A prairie dogs home is a tunnel under ground. They dig holes before every room so that they do not get water were they sleep. The bathroom is the deepest room in the house. The tunnels go about 20 ft. under ground.
