What is OnRamps? UT believes students should have access OnRamps is unique dual-enrollment program from The University of Texas at Austin that brings the college experience to students in your high school classroom. Through Onramps students will: Engage with college-level content in a course designed by UT Austin faculty. Discover firsthand what it takes to succeed at the college level. Use the same digital tools as full-time UT Austin students. Have the opportunity to earn UT Austin college credit. UT believes students should have access To different levels of college courses, including courses from leading universities.

What is dual-enrollment? OnRamps works through a dual-enrollment model. Students who meet rigorous university-level readiness standards will have the opportunity to earn UT Austin credit as well as high school credit. OnRamps is not a dual-credit program, meaning you do NOT get simultaneous credit for both high school and college. In OnRamps you are enrolled in two separate courses, one high school course and one college course. Because you are enrolled in two separate courses you will earn two separate grades, one from your high school instructor and one from your college instructor. UT and District grading policies and procedures are completely separate. Only the curriculum is the same.

College Credit OnRamps provides a low-risk opportunity to experience a challenging college level course. You can sign up to take the course and choose to accept or decline the credit at the end of your course. If you decide to decline the credit you will have no UT Austin transcript for that course. The University of Texas believes all students, regardless of financial background, should have access to a course that exposes them to a curriculum designed by a Top Research Based University.

Tests for University of Texas Credit Students are enrolled as a UT Student. Their college grade is from 90% tests. Tests take approximately 2 hours-50 minutes each section-Part 1-Multiple Choice Part 2-Free Response Written. Students will receive a zero if they miss the test unless there is a medically excused emergency or illness with doctor note. The teacher has a 2 week window to pick the most ideal test day and notify UT within a week. Once UT is notified of test date, the test cannot be changed (emergency situations are addressed case by case). Only UT faculty can administer UT test (M. Martin/L. Martin). Students can receive one zero per semester and take optional midterm or final to replace zero. This can also replace their lowest test grade each semester.

Experience College Before College College Expectations Students experience college academic and social expectations through their OnRamps high school and college distance courses. They learn the social expectations of college such as working outside of class and developing study skills. Through their OnRamps experience, students learn the academic behaviors and work habits of college students.

What is Inquiry Based Learning? Discovery PreCalculus is based on a curriculum using Inquiry Based Learning. Inquiry-Based Learning gives students daily experience with activities that lead students to the development of these kinds of mental habits. IBL is done in class through collaborative work and students presenting their ideas and driving the learning. Students are encouraged to develop study groups and share their work, ideas, and help each other.
