The Paleo Period: The Earliest Known Culture

Hello, I am Clovis. I am a Paleo Indian. I am here to tell you my story. Come with me.

Over 10,000 years ago, there was an ice age, and much of the earth was covered in ice.

The water froze and caused the ocean floors to become exposed and create land bridges. One of these land bridges was Beringia, or the Bering Strait.

Large animals such as mastodons, mammoths, caribou, and moose crossed from Asia to North America by way of the Bering Strait.

My people followed these animals, and so came to North America.

We never created permanent settlements, we moved with the animals, to ensure we would always have food.

My father was an excellent hunter. He taught me everything I know.

We used a weapon called an atlatl to spear our prey We used a weapon called an atlatl to spear our prey. This weapon allowed us to throw spears with more power.

We used stone to make the spear heads.

Here are some of the spear head points.

Eventually, my time passed, as did the Paleo period Eventually, my time passed, as did the Paleo period. And with it’s passing, began the Archaic period.
