China Civil War (Pg. 610) Chiang Kai-Shek was the leader of China, The United States gave him 3 billion dollars to fight communists. His Nationalist government was very corrupt and greedy Mao Zedong encouraged peasants to read and write so more people flock to communism

People’s Republic of China is established Commies Win, Containment failed! The Nationalists leave to Taiwan Congress attacks Truman and says he didn’t do enough Some people said communist are in the US government

Korean War On June 25, 1950 North Korea forces cross the 38th parallel starting the Korean War They were backed by the Soviet Union 16 nations sent 520,000 but 90% were American

Korean War’s Outside Influences The United States People’s Republic of China North Korea seemed unstoppable General MacArthur surprise attacks North Korea and pushes them almost into China China wants North Korea to stay Communist so they send 300,000 troops China wants a communist buffer Leads to a stalemate
