WELCOME TO Western festivals

Sunday 复活节 Easter Sunday The first Sunday after the first Monday in November for the election of public officials. This holiday is observed in most states. Sunday           复活节 This holiday is observed in most states.  The first Sunday after the first Monday in November for the election of public officials.

Easter Sunday ( A Sunday in March or April): It comes from the ancient Norwegian festival of Spring sun, is the second of the two most important religious holidays for Christians

It is on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs on or after March 21, and it is for celebrating the rising of Jesus Christ from his tomb, where he had lain for three days following his death. Before he died he had promised to rise again as proof of eternal life.

There are several symbols for Easter. Of all the symbols, the egg and the hare, which are considered to represent fertility and new life, are those most frequently associated with Easter. The Easter parade is very popular in the United States. The most famous one is along the Fifth Avenue in New York.

October 31 万圣节 Halloween A special day for making merry, wearing costumes and playing old-fashioned games. A favorite with children.

It is a night-time children’s holiday. It is a time for frightening costumes, masks, parties, games and tricks –all for fun. Children with curious masks go from house to house to frighten friends or neighbors and threaten them with “Trick or treat” (Give me something nice, or I’ll play a trick on you).

But since 1950, more and more children have asked for pennies instead of candies for UNICEF (United nations International Children’s Emergency Fund) to help children in other countries, for which the 1965 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to American children.

Christmas Day,December 25 This is both a legal and religious holiday, it observes the anniversary of the birth of Jesus. All states and all those of the Christian faith celebrate this holiday.

Christmas Day (December 25): It celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, is the biggest and the best-loved holiday in the United States. It is a time of warmth and love, hospitality and good will. Generally speaking, the Christmas season and excitement last from right after Thanksgiving Day to New Year’s Day on January 1st.
