eCampus Resources for Developing and Reviewing Courses Presented by: Steven McGahan, Karen Premer, Olimpia Leite-Trambly, and Eric Tenkorang

Why Use eCampus Tools? If you think of standardization as the best that you know today, but which is to be improved tomorrow; you get somewhere. Henry Ford

Standardization

Cookie Cutter vs. Standardization The term Standardized invokes negative connotations Standardization doesn’t mean exactly the same Using a cookie-cutter approach can lead to uninvolved courses Standardization creates opportunities

Standardization is Useful Students spend less time learning the course and more time learning the content Cognitive load release Familiarity across courses/program Implementation of best practices Reduced development time and energy

Personality Standardization doesn’t mean that a course must be dull A focus on technical and structural details allows for more time to devote to personality in a course Less time on development of navigation More time spent putting YOU into your course

How Does eCampus Help eCampus Course Quality Checklist Revision eCampus Online Course Template Additional Resources for Course Development Content Creation Spaces Instructional Design Support On-Demand Tutorials
