READING EXPECTATIONS •LEVEL A, B, C. PC RB •A: CVC & HFW, changing patterns, and retell •HFW: can, get, into, play, the •B: CVC, HFW, Vowel Teams, Magic E, blends, digraphs, endings, & retell •HFW: yes, she, will, in, not, have, has •C: HFW, rule breakers •HFW: look, for, said, come, here •All reading levels build on one another. •Readers Workshop

MATH EXPECTATIONS •Count to 100 •Addition & Subtraction fluency within 5, but will work on facts through 10. •Read, write, and represent 1-20 •Place Value •Making ten •World Problems •Making and comparing 2D & 3D shapes •Math Workshop

BEST TIME Differentiated instruction to meet students’ needs in their literacy skills. Each teacher will take a skill and students are divided based on their needs.

REMINDERS •Check and sign agendas EACH NIGHT! •Please make sure money is labeled with child's and name and what the money is for. •If you haven't yet please sign up on the remind/Class Dojo app for your teacher. •Water bottles with water only •Please send a jacket for your child to leave in their book bag/cubby each day.

TRC- new changes 2018-19

TRC- what type of reading is a TRC? TRC benchmarking is a COLD read. A cold read is defined as reading a text with no rehearsal, practice, or study in advance.

New Changes with Text and Questions Texts: All texts for TRC benchmark testing are new this year. new non-fiction and new fiction books. Questions are aligned to new standards for each grade level Varying levels of difficulty (handout provided) Teachers show text examples and question stems (possibly use the F&P continuum as a resource).

New norms... This is a norming year for the state of NC What does this mean? New grade level performance expectations for MOY and EOY It may appear to be a lower reported letter at the BOY The texts and questions are aligned to standards New standards for ELA causes for comprehension questions to be aligned to the standards
