VEYON Computer Management Software Virtual Eye On Networks

What is VEYON Computer Management Software? Veyon is a free and open source software for computer monitoring and classroom management. It is primarily targeted for the education sector. Veyon enables teachers to remotely monitor and control students’ computers.

This software was developed as a free alternative to commercial classroom management solutions, but has virtually all of the same features of a commercial product. It was originally developed in 2004 as iTALC and was then available for Linux only.

Veyon can be deployed via the network Veyon can be deployed via the network. You will need to “group” your student computers by name for particular labs/classrooms. The software has little to no impact on network speed or device performance. A MASTER client is installed on the teacher computer and is used to launch the software. The software works on both lab (hardwired) and mobile devices.

The program is started via the START MENU or desktop icon: Depending on the system configuration you will be prompted for username and password:

After starting the program you will see a user interface with a toolbar (1), a workspace (2) and a status bar with various controls (3):

The Veyon administrator can view multiple rooms or one room by choosing from the Computer/User menu.

You can see all computer screens in an icon view and access individual computers with just one click. Taking screenshots of computers is a one-click operation as well. Draw attention to your lesson by locking all computers and blocking input devices with the help of just one button.

Functions: Preview each student’s screen; Take control of an individual computer for demonstration purposes or assistance; LOCK student computers (individually or as a group); Send text message to student(s); Power on, reboot or shut down computers; Teacher can open a website on all computers in the classroom; Teacher can take screenshots of student screens;

Teacher can also broadcast what is on his/her computer to all other computers in the classroom.

With Veyon you can simply make use of all information already stored on your LDAP or ActiveDirectory server. Configure the LDAP module once and Veyon will keep computer and room information up to date automatically.
