small head BIG WISDOM

E N G L I S H The main goal of this presentation is to provide English teachers with a wide range of relevant vocabulary that entails current events to be shared with their ESL’s students. If you can’t see the fonts of this presentation properly, it is because it is not included by default in your Microsoft Power Point application. After you have installed them, you will be able to see the slides with no issues. CORNER

DELICIOUS Nothing looks as great in real life as in advertising, and you’d be astounded to know how deceiving famous food products within the media can be! In this opportunity, the teacher will discuss an interesting topic related to food, which is how food stylists generate the illusion of delicious food by using everyday objects to create effects that it would give a hard time trying to distinguish them from reality. Before you begin your lecture, you can start by asking students what dishes they normally see in popular advertisements. This will help you to estimate how high their level of food vocabulary they have, and therefore, you can pick the words to focus on during your presentation.

antiperspirant makes FRUIT sparkling Fruit always sparkles in ads. No uncommon instruments are required — just an antiperspirant spray is enough to make fruit shine. A few food stylists utilize hairsprays too. antiperspirant makes FRUIT sparkling

Motor oil instead of maple syrup Waffles assimilate genuine syrup very fast to photograph, so food stylists replace it with motor oil. Another way is to cover waffles with a water-repellent spray creating a protective layer. Motor oil instead of maple syrup

To keep cakes dry, picture takers interlay them with cardboard and secure them with toothpicks. They utilize the same way in sandwich and burger advertising. Cardboard and cakes

Liquid soap creates foam To take a photo of coffee, milk, or beer, photographers add liquid soap. It produces a stable foam that looks real and eye-catching. Liquid soap creates foam

Mashed potatoes or ice cream Due to the fact that ice-cream melts too fast, food stylists use colored mashed potatoes along with icing sugar, syrup and other deceiving ingredients. Mashed potatoes or ice cream

Shaving cream instead of whipped cream Shaving cream is the perfect tool to create the illusion of whipped cream. That is why actors are often reminded not to take a grab. Shaving cream instead of whipped cream

Glue instead of milk To prevent cereal from sinking in milk, advertisers use common white glue. We can’t trust anything these days.

Steam is simulated Steaming food in advertising looks mouthwatering. In reality, it isn’t even sizzling. Besides photoshop, food stylists have other tricks to create steam: This slide also comes with a video that shows how the illusion of steamed potatoes is created. Just click on the “video” icon at the bottom of the slide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw8uHrf7sP0) . Showing this video can help your ESL students to internalize the concepts that you were teaching throughout the presentation. Besides the huge advantages that this video provides, your students can be challenged by trying to understand as much as they can from the video, leading to the improvement of their listening and comprehension capabilities.
