Volume 139, Issue 1, Pages 84-92.e2 (July 2010) Host Inflammatory Response Predicts Survival of Patients With Epstein-Barr Virus– Associated Gastric Carcinoma  Hye–Jong Song, Amitabh Srivastava, Jeeyun Lee, Yun Soo Kim, Kyoung–Mee Kim, Won Ki Kang, Minji Kim, Seonwoo Kim, Cheol Keun Park, Sung Kim  Gastroenterology  Volume 139, Issue 1, Pages 84-92.e2 (July 2010) DOI: 10.1053/j.gastro.2010.04.002 Copyright © 2010 AGA Institute Terms and Conditions

Figure 1 (A) Syncytial growth pattern of tumor cells with poorly formed glandular structure, dense lymphocytic infilatration, and expansile margin are characteristic features of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma. (B) Carcinoma with Crohn's-like lymphoid reaction is defined by lymphocytic infiltration with more than 3 lymphoid follicles at the advancing edge of the tumor. The tumor cells are more than lymphocytes, and make tubule or gland frequently. (C) Carcinomas with scanty lymphocytes and no lymphoid follicles are classifed as conventional adenocarcinoma.
