Remember our Objective We will compare and contrast one author’s presentation of events with that of another.

Sleep Articles You will be comparing the reasons and evidence used in “Homeroom Zombies” to the reasons and evidence in “Turn Off, Tune Out, Turn In” to help you understand how authors use reasons and evidence from credible sources to strengthen their arguments.

Sleep Articles One method that authors use to make their argument more believable is to include quotations and facts from credible sources. The sources may be print texts, other visual media, or live interviews. A credible source includes accurate and complete knowledge about the topic, is reliable (dependable), and is current. The source can be clearly identified.

Sleep Articles Stop and Jot: Write your ideas of any examples of what may be a credible source and say what makes the source credible.

“Analyzing Lang’s Argument” Reasons Evidence Source “…too much texting can actually be detrimental to their teens‘ health.” “…new technologies…give teenagers easy access to their friends 24 hours a day.” The more technology we develop, the more we rely on technology "before technology, we went to sleep 10 when the sun went down.” The author, Marissa Lang Dr. Myrza Perez, a specialist in sleep disorders.
