School – to – Career Academy Children Centered Careers and Occupational Opportunities

California Partnership Grant Community Involvement Financial Support Accountability

California Partnership Grant Senate Bill 44 Academies are a three-year program, in grades 10-12, structured as a school-within-a-school incorporating: • a voluntary student selection process • curriculum focused on a career theme • a small team of teachers who work together to plan and implement the program • a variety of motivational activities including parental support, reward structures, guest speakers, field trips, mentors, work experience and regular monitoring

What we are required to do: Provide three college preparatory academic classes and one career class Classes are restricted to Academy students Voluntary teacher participation with a common prep period Must have an Advisory Board of business and community members Must provide a mentorship program in 11th grade year Must provide summer internship after 11th grade year

What we are required to do: Funding is performance based Only those students meeting the 90% attendance and 90% credit requirements are qualified for funding District and business partners must match 100%

What we provide to our students: Career and College Guidance Individual Counseling Field Trips Creation of Professional Portfolios Guest Speakers Working with children in natural settings Mentorship program Peer support systems Internships

Goals All C3O2 students will … - improve to or maintain 90% attendance. - improve to or maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. - demonstrate public speaking and presentation skills. - produce written works in a variety of modes, which exhibit research and writing skills. - practice employability and leadership skills.

Expectations Attendance: 90% Daily Attendance On time everyday, every period Academic Effort: Passing Grades Complete and turn in all work Attitude and Behavior: Ready to Learn, no suspensions Be On Task Character: As fit for working with children Teachers have the right to teach Students have the right to learn No one has the right to interfere with either

The Perfect C3O2 Student - wants to work with children Motivated Dedicated Willing to Work Desire to Learn Effort to improve, if needed Positive attitude

How Do I Sign Up? A. Complete: The Application forms B. Turn everything in to the C3O2 Box in the Library or in SS-11 by Friday, December 2! In the meantime, I will send out Teacher Recommendation emails… Then we will contact you in January about interviews….
