Jobs for Alabama’s Graduates Why Schools Get Involved Return to School Rates: Students involved in JAG have a return to school rate ranging from 95-100% . Graduation Rates: the JAG Graduation Rate in Alabama for the 2015-16 school year was 99.7% Target Demographics: JAG works with students who are most at-risk of dropping out: 80% of students we serve are not employed (Alabama) Only 43% are living with both parents (Aggregate across all JAG Affiliates) 54% receive free or subsidized lunch (Alabama) 20% of mothers of JAG students did not receive a HS diploma or GED (Alabama) 23% of fathers of JAG students did not receive a HS diploma or GED (Alabama) Summer Services: JAG Specialists work year round engaging JAG students to encourage academic and workforce progress. This includes the crucial summer months, which reinforces our high return-to-school rate.

Jobs for Alabama’s Graduates How to Get involved The Alabama State Department of Education provides $33,000 for 20 JAG Programs. The Local Education Agency must agree to provide all other funds to operate a JAG program that will provide students with an opportunity to receive a minimum of 180 contact hours during the school year. A program is considered full- time for funding purposes if the JAG Specialist conducts classroom instruction, community-based activities, career association activities, individual/group counseling, remediation, and other activities for at least 75 percent of his/her total work week. All JAG Specialists must also provide follow-up services, job development, and job placement.
