Ms. Cunningham’s Fantastic Fourth Graders

Welcome! Welcome to Fourth Grade! I am Elizabeth Cunningham and I am your child’s Fourth Grade Teacher and am looking forward to having a great year! This year we will be learning so much and I have already begun to see your child’s mind begin to grow! I cannot wait to see all the successes that your child will have this year!

Contact Information Ways to contact me: Email: elizabeth.cunningham@cobbk12.org Class Dojo is a great way to message me as well A note on a separate piece of paper Communication is very important to me and is a part of having a successful year. If at anytime you need to contact me, please don’t hesitate.

Class Blog & Agenda Class Blog We will have a class blog that will be updated weekly. I am currently piloting the new blog system that the district is rolling out. I hope to have the blog up and running the week after Labor Day. Thank you for being patient with me during this process! Agenda Assignments and reminders will be copied into the agenda daily. We will go over the agenda, gather materials and pack up each day. It is the student’s responsibility to write down all the information in their agenda. Please make sure to sign your student’s agenda each day.

Classroom Management Each student will participate in a positive behavior management plan. Class Dojo will be used as the management system Students can earn positive and negative (“needs work”) points Students will be able to access this in real time via smartboard display daily Also if students receive negative points and a citation occurs, this will also be noted on their accountability sheet. The accountability sheet is sent home on Fridays and needs to be signed and returned the following Monday

Class Dojo Class Dojo is used for our class’s behavior management Each student can earn positive/negative points daily This is a great way to see how your student is behaving in class as well as contacting me You will receive an invite to see your student’s progress via email You may then also message me directly through Class Dojo To access you can download the app or login online

Specials vary depending on the day of the rotation.

Homework Reading for 30 minutes is a part of daily homework. Homework is usually assigned Monday – Thursday It shouldn’t take anymore than 45 minutes per night If your child has trouble, there is time for them to ask me about it in the morning for help Homework completion is a part of the “Work Habits” grade on the report card Homework is extra practice based on the skills we’ve learned at school.

Classwork All work completed in class needs to be finished in class, not as homework Students will keep a folder for assignments that they haven’t yet completed, but nothing that is going to be graded may be taken home to complete Assignments not completed by Friday of the week they were assigned will result in: A mark on their weekly Accountability Sheet Finishing items up in Study Hall during Mustang Madness

Make-Up Work Students will receive their makeup work when they come back from being absent. It will be placed in the “Make Up” Folder according to the day they missed. Students will have 2-3 days to complete and turn in any missed assignments This is the students responsibility to make up their assignments Absent students are responsible for copying and updating their Interactive Notebooks with any notes that were taken while they were out

25 Book Standard Reading Fluency is part of the 4th grade standards. Students are expected to read 25 books (or the equivalent) this year. Students are expected to complete a graphic organizer about the book the finish reading. Please review the graphic organizer and sign the top, to ensure completeness before your child brings it to school.

Grading Scale Percentage Letter Grade 90% - 100% A 80% - 89% B 74% - 79% C 70% - 73% D 69% and below F Fourth grade is a transition year because students now receive letter grades instead of 1,2,3’s You can access your student’s grades and attendance by logging in to Synergy Grades will be updated every Monday

Testing Policy Students who score below a 74% on a test or quiz, at the teacher’s discretion, may be given the opportunity to improve their grade by completing corrections. Students have to do the following: Parent signature on the original test/quiz Make all corrections on a new sheet of paper and stapled to original test/quiz Corrections are due back 2 days after you receive your graded paper Turn in to the “Test Corrections” Folder
