If you eat from all of the foods in the food pyramid you will have a balanced diet. You also need to keep clean and to get your rest to stay healthy. You need to eat grains, vegetables, fruits, milk, meats and beans, and a small amount of oil for a healthy and balanced diet. -James The Food Pyramid

Grains

You should be eating oats, corn, wheat, and rice. Whole grains are full of carbohydrates that give your body energy. Try to eat 6 ounces a day. -Maalik Grains

Grains give you lots of energy. Grains are parts of plants. Most grains grow in fields. Grains are a healthy part of meals. -Kennedy Grains

Fruits and Vegetables Vegetables Fruits

Vegetables have lots of vitamins and fiber in them. Fiber helps us get rid of waste. Vegetables help keep you healthy and strong. Some people like to grow their vegetables in a garden. -Emily Vegetables

Meats and Beans

Meat is good to eat and is good for you, but if you eat too much you can get fat. Meat can be fattening for you. Meat has lots of good things in it. -Ruben Meat

Meat contains many vitamins we need to stay healthy. Meats are described as red or white. Low fat meats are better for us. -Daniel Meat and Beans

Oils, Fats, and Sugars Oils Fats and Sugars

There are lots of different kinds of oil. Some of the different kinds of oil are: fish oil, olive oil, nut oil, canola oil and soy bean oil. Even though oil is not a food group, some oil is needed for good health. Oils are found in animals and plants. -Seth Oils

If you eat too much candy its bad for your teeth. Do not eat too much cake; it will rot your teeth. It is all right to eat candy sometimes. Make sure to brush your teeth after eating sweets. -Matt Fats & Sugars

Balanced Diet

Eating a balanced diet will help you be healthy. You need cups of vegetables a day and 1 ½ - 2 cups of fruit. You should eat ounces from the meat and bean group. It is also important to eat 3 – 3 ½ ounces of whole grains every day. -Martez Balanced Diet

Exercise

Exercise is very important because it helps give us strong bones and muscles. Exercise strengthens your body so you remain flexible. -Will Exercise

Your body needs air and sunshine. To make sure your body is getting enough air and sunshine, work and play outside in the fresh air and sunshine as often as possible. Exercise helps your heart and lungs to grow stronger. -Teoni Exercise

Hygiene

Brushing your teeth is important because it gets plaque from the bottom of your gums. Flossing is important because it also keeps your teeth clean. If you dont keep your teeth clean you will get cavities that turn your teeth black. -Devon Hygiene

Sleep / Rest

Sleep is as important to the body as eating right and being active. Lack of sleep can make it harder for your body to fight off illness. -Nyja Sleep and Rest
