Hamlet Act III: The Turning Point

Act III: The Turning Point Can really be called the point of no return, because each character makes a decision that radically affects their lives and the lives of others in this story. Note that the outcome of the play could have been entirely different had these characters not acted the way that they had.

Act III: The Turning Point Partners: What decisions did each make that change the outcome of the play? Write 1-2 sentences for each character. Hamlet: Claudius: Polonius: Ophelia: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern:

Turning Points Conclusion Hamlet: Chooses to put on a play to see if the ghost was telling the truth Hurls insults at Ophelia Chooses not to kill the king when he sees him praying Kills Polonius without checking to see who he is killing Claudius: Displays his guilt during the play Chooses to wait and see what the cause of Hamlet’s anger is Waits too long to send Hamlet away Polonius: Insists on spying on people to find out what they are saying when people think they are alone Ophelia: Does what her father asked her to do Rosencrantz and Guildenstern: Both men choose to be loyal to the king as opposed to their friend
